Django

I'm django.
I was born blind in one eye, but I got over it.
I like taking photos. Sometimes I print them.
I like black and white. But I do appreciate what color can do.
I like sunlight. I like the woods. I like music.
I like to sing. I like to write sometimes.
I love people. If you’re on this page, I love you. If you’re showcased on this page, I love you. If you like this work, and would like to have me do more of it, I love you too.

I love you in the boundless present - amen

I love you in the boundless present, amen is a prayer I heard once that resurfaced randomly while I was crossing a tidal causeway over a small inlet at the mouth of the east river. Stinking algae, biting flies, the smell of low tide mixed with 200 years of polluted, industrial sludge. The sky crystal blue, the air cool and fresh off the river. A white egret in the grass at the edge of the water, a shopping cart, overturned and covered in slime rests nearby. I am somehow filled with light, with joy. I love you in the boundless present.
It is a meditation on water. On the rivers of my youth, stinking with agricultural waste from the dumping dams and paper mills.
It is a meditation on friends. On family. On the coming and going of things.
It's my way of asking if I can go home again.

Despite my best efforts, you can't stand in the same river twice.
